Gemecter Sudoku
Our first Java application for mobile phones is a comprehensive Sudoku game matching and often exceeding the abilities of PC based Sudoku games. Sudoku itself is simple to play: Fill the grid with the numbers 1 to 9 so that each row, column and 3 by 3 box contain the numbers 1 to 9 once and once only. The game starts with some cells already filled in which cannot be changed - these are the given cells. Completing the grid is often easier said than done, making Sudoku utterly addictive.

Playing the game
Given cells are highlighted with a light blue background to make them easy to find. The red box indicates the current cell which can be moved around using your phones direction keys. Finally the time taken to solve the current game is displayed at the top of the screen.

Hints can be requested at any time - Sudoku highlights the cells involved with a green circle. Choosing "Do it" tells Sudoku to automatically fill in the cells given by the hint. There is a time penalty for using hints which gets longer the more hints are used.
